KOUNA

Kouna grass, also known as water hyacinth, is a fast-growing aquatic plant found abundantly in the water bodies of Manipur, a northeastern state of India. The locals of Manipur have been using kouna grass for various purposes for centuries, including for weaving mats, baskets, bags, and other handicrafts.

Kouna grass products have gained significant popularity in recent years, thanks to their eco-friendliness and unique design. The weaving of kouna grass products is a labor-intensive process, requiring skilled artisans who have been practicing the craft for generations. The process involves harvesting the grass, cleaning it thoroughly, drying it, and then weaving it into the desired shape.

Kouna grass products are not only beautiful but also durable and long-lasting. They are also sustainable and eco-friendly, as the raw material is locally sourced and renewable. Moreover, the production process of kouna grass products generates no waste and has a minimal carbon footprint.
